No, nothing ever touches... easy one... belongs in metaphysics hehehe... same principle as how you can never reach the speed of light... which is... the closer you get... the harder it gets to get closer... applies even when splitting atoms... but then you realize... all matter is just really slow moving energy... by definition (e=mc2)... so really we are talking about fields interacting with each other... sure they can overlap... but there is nothing there to actually touch even if it were somehow possible... just a pressure or vacuum of whatever type of field it is... basicly im saying you dont exist and are just some random fractal of an infinatly large or small (depending on prespective) ball of spining energy... i advise you not to think about this at all... just hit the back button and forget you ever read it... its not healthy to know certain things... We were watching a video on time travel in physics. In it some guy showed how to mkae information travel faster than the speed of light. I don't remember exactly how but it involved a blockage... And don't give me bs about public schools. You are just a lazy retard who won't take the time to read what he wrote, or are just naturally too stupid to comprehend anything.

I saw something on that a few years ago. They had some sort of tube filled with gas (caesium) which light could travel through at faster than the accepted speed of light. A quick google search turns up this: "Caesium is also the most electropositive and most alkaline chemical element and also has the least ionization potential of all the elements, except for francium." "Caesium reacts explosively in cold water"
Now to me this seems alittle fishy... I think that the light did not travel faster then the speed of light, but mearly "pushed" light out of the other side of the tube when entering. The gas was probably charged to its full capacity, and compressed in the tube. Possibly so that when you put a photon in one end and it would upset the electro-magnetic feild of the gas enough that a photon would pop out the other end to balance things out. Now nothing would have moved faster then the speed of light here. The effect displaying difference in speed would have only been faster by the length of the tube over the time it took the light to travel through (If the tube was 10 meters the light would be 10 meters ahead of where it should have been apon exiting). I am confident the light would then travel at regular speeds (I am sure the scientists would say it only happens in the gas). This is a classic case of measuring from the front of a bus for where it started, and the back for when it stopped. It could have stood still and moved 70 feet get it?

It's actually fairly easy to get information to travel faster than the speed of light.
Here's how it works.
Einstein noticed a little thing when he was doing his experiments, and he named it "Spooky behavior at a distance." It also sets the groundworks for quantum mechanics as being probable solutions for physical problems. Spooky behavior is as follows:
You create some sort of collission between particles that releases energy. One photon (travelling at the speed of light 'c') goes in one direction, and another photon (travelling at c) heads in the exact opposite direction. The space between the two photons is therefore increasing at a rate of 2c. Therefore, if information traveled at a max speed of the speed of light, it would be impossible for the two photons to ever communicate, because a message sent out would travel only as fast as the other photon was moving already.
What happens, however is this: If you change the polarity of one of the photons, the polarity of the other photon instantaneously changes, because photons created from the same event cannot share a polarity, they must switch off. Since when particle A is changed to UP, particle B changes to DOWN, and the space between them is increasing at 2c, there has to be some form of communication which takes place between the photons that travels faster than light, and since its instantaneous regardless of distance, permeates the three dimensional universe.
To create communication at a distance barring speed of information travel, what you do is this: You create spiraling electromagnetic field, and then using a particular technique, you divide the electromagnetic field in two. The two fields are thus forever linked, and if you change the properties of one, the other changes as well. It doesn't take a genius then, to recognize that you have the possiblity for binary, Positive and Negative, and thus can have a binary signal transmitting instanteously anywhere the second electromagnetic field is found. Therefore, once the communication center is created, teh potential for communication constantly moves outward at a speed of C.
It COULD be theorizes that thus, the potential for instantneous communication only lies within the locations in the three dimensional universe where energy has already reached. Barring a finite universe, a location which lies beyond the reaches of light created from the Big Bang is incommunicable. However, this is quickly overruled by a universe that existed forever, which is the case, since time isn't linear.
Insofar as light travelling faster than the speed of light, this is, of course, possible. You see, light that we detect visibly can be effected by gravity. On certain levels, sure, gravity is not the most powerful force, but for the purposes of a laser beam and a contained of caesium gas, it is. As long as Space-time for whatever reason is sufficiently warped, perception of the speed of light travelling over it is altered in reference to the observer. No doubt that caesium gas at such pressures has an effect. Light CAN however be slowed down, IE light travelling through water. That's why a pole stuck in water refracts. Therefore you can have things travel FASTER than light, even if they have mass, but only in a medium other than a vaccuum. High speed particles occasionally collide with water molecules, and since they are travelling faster than teh speed of light in water, produce an interesting light blue aura known as Kircnikoff radiation after the russian scientist that discovered it. I postulate that there is a constant supply of Kirchnikoff radiation within ones own mind, undetectable because it is only noticeable VISIBLY and there isn't a camera in ones head. This takes place because our brains function via chemical reaction and electrical charge in a water medium. Don't expect to find regular Kirchnikoff radiation from particle collisions in anything other than aboslutely pure water. This is also why perfectly pure water glows.
To understand fully WHY light acts the way it does, one needs to delve very deeply into Quantum Mechanics. I agree with the book Quantum Mechanics and the Search for Schroedingers Kittens, and how it descrives the function of light. Essentially the solution for many light puzzles is as so:
Electron 1 (emitter electron) emitts a 'signal' out into the universe. It travels along, recognizing all obstacles in its way, and eventually reaches Electron 2 (receiver electron). Electron 2 then sends a 'signal' backwards in time, all the way back to Electron 1, which includes within it all the information of what path the photon needs to take in order to reach Electron 2 without colliding with anything else, since its destination is Electron 2. After receiving the signal, Electron 1 finally emitts the photon, and it travels along its delicately preconceived path and reaches the receiver Electron 2.
Simple right? This solves all of the difficulties with light always knowing which way to go and acting as both a wave AND a perfect travelling particle, regardless of random or conscious interference with the particle. Do a search on Shroedingers Cat, Schroedingers Kittens, Light Photon Slit Experiment, and The God Particle Experiment for further details.

Two small things, the interaction of split photons over a faster then light distance is only in measuring the initial voltage. You cant change it and have the other react. Its not really all that exciting actually. Second its easy to think of how waves work. Just picture the waves in the ocean, but instead of H20 its photons, nothing to complicated there huh.

Are you all scientists that only believe in 3 dimensions? Is the only fact something that has been properly theorized, hypotinized, and proved? If so, I have lost a little respect for you. Please explain to me the origin of man. Science at this time cannot answer all questions. Einstien was absolutely awesome, but... If all our conclusions are based on old hypothesis, then what hope is there for the future? I don't think the communication revolution was truly based on Einstien theory. No matter how similiar some aspects of this transition are, I would be more inclined to believe ALIEN technology has been more of an influence thanEinstien's wonderful ramblings. If more scientists tried to think "outside the box" then more benificial knolwledgewould be reaped upon mankind.
OFFICIAL NOTICE: This is not in any way a disclaimer to the workings of Einstien. This is only an alternative view to modern science and the standard routes they use to prove/disprove modern theory. ALSO: To the disdain of all my fans, I do not yet believe in aliens. Only the possibility that sentient life may exist in other realms than our own.

No you guys are misunderstanding eachother, the mod was saying that he believes in a point particle theory, that atoms exist individually and unable to truly touch eachother, but have fields that overlap, rather than the string theory, where theres a fabric.
Ill just clear this up, point particle has been disproved, i could plagerize other peoples work, but ill try to put it simple and in my own words.
In true nothingness, (the absence of anything), nothing can have a relationship to anything else. Its best to think of roms and emulators on this one, you need an emulator to run a rom because its a platform for applied existence. Without the platform that allows our atoms to draw close to eachother and form the foundation of the things we can touch and feel, there must be a common place for those atoms to have a relationship with eachother. On top of this, fields that overlap is just plain misguided, were that to be true portions of the universe would be like the techtonic plates were standing on, (am i spelling that right?) anyways, if the universe had earthquakes id say hell ya to point particle.

They have theorized the idea that point particle theory is wrong. I have not been truly convinced that it does not. Sorry I'm not a big multi-dimensional believer. Nothing can occupy the same space. Two objects in close proximity of each other may also be permiated by one or several different fields each occupying it's own space. Hence take a bowl of cereal, the milk is not sharing the space, it's occupying unused space left by the cereal. Then there is the bubbles, they aren't sharing space in the milk, they have their own space confined in the milk. Probably have gases inside of them, in their own space.
Yes a very generalized example, but even when broke down to the molecular level, this stands true. Radionic fields, proton distribution, all of it is bunk! They have their own space.
