For those of you who don’t know, Webshots.com is a site where shallow, self-centered people can post their digital photos to share with the world. This usually amounts to college bar sluts posting pictures of their nights out. Remember: Drinking is cooler if a lot of people know you do it.
Anyways, I originally considered using them to host the images for my threads, but I abandoned the idea when I couldn’t link the images directly in. Their technology sucks. I logged out of my account hoping to have nothing to do with it again. I also left the pictures up; removing them wasn’t worth the fifteen seconds it would have taken me to do. The next day I got the following email (It was a form letter, so I removed all of the irrelevant crap):
Dear Christopher,
Thank you for your recent submission to the Webshots Community.
Webshots strives to be a site where people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy photography. It is sometimes necessary to remove material that is likely to offend certain people or that may be inappropriate for children. We remove any type of pornography, full or partial nudity, sexually explicit material, and violent material that can appear in photos, cartoons, drawings, etc.
In accordance with this policy, we have removed 1 of
your photos.
Sincerely,
The Webshots Support Staff
Inappropriate for children? That’s fucking bullshit. Kids should start studying my threads in first grade. Kindergarten even. It also goes to show how arbitrary their censorship policies are; topless girls making out are OK, as long as their nipples aren’t showing, but some asshole with a red bandana and a Thug Life tattoo is off limits.
Even the letter was shitty. They start it out by blowing smoke up my ass, then jump right in to telling me how offensive my content it. Fuck them. If they think that picture was bad, they should read the article that went with it.
Everything about Webshits blows, from the stupid bitches that post pictures on it, to their half-assed rules on what they consider acceptable content. If you have pictures on it, take them down. You can do more creative things with them on Freewebs.com anyway.
